A Letter from the President
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
As 2011 draws to an end, I would like to thank the members of the North Akron Chamber of Commerce and the many small and large businesses of Akron for supporting our chamber throughout the year. We have had numerous accomplishments this year, to include providing college scholarships to three wonderful and deserving students. A first for our chamber, we awarded scholarships to twin sisters, Allison and Emily LeBorgne, and we awarded a third scholarship Megan Kane. We had so many deserving students that we realized the need to find ways to increase our scholarship fund in future years.
We also hosted an All-Boards “Live After 5” Steak Cookout in July. This event was held at the Akron Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7, Wolter Park. The event was a fundraiser for both the Akron Police K-9 Unit, and the 2012 NACC Scholarship Fund. By all accounts it was a huge success, and we hope to host it again in 2012. The K-9 Officers and their Canine partners were definitely a crowd pleaser as they demonstrated their skills for all to see.
Our main fundraiser, the Reverse Raffle, was held at Guys Party Center, and was yet again a good time for all. The food was great. Russ Iona was our emcee, and he provided a lot humor to go along with the drawing.
I am proud to say that I will again serve as the N.A.C.C. President in 2012, and I would like to congratulate everybody who is stepping up again to serve another year: Linda Hughes, Executive Director; Bill Kimble, Vice-President; Rev. Todd Tackett, Second Vice-President; and Tina Sheetz as Treasurer.
Our Executive Board also has many returning members, and we are blessed to be able to add a couple new members to the board. Our Executive Board members are Guido DiIorio, Daniel Hughes, Ron Hummel, Stephanie Hummel, Jim Iona, Russ Iona, Lenny Morella, Rev. Todd Tackett, and new board members Angela Collecci, Jim Stein.
As we move into 2012, I am looking forward to a fun, prosperous and successful year. Come out and join our North Akron Chamber for the benefits, and you will stay for the friendships!
